Why Shooting Stuff Is Going to SHOT Show — And Why It Matters
SHOT Show is the world’s largest firearms, reloading, and shooting-sports trade show. It is a professional industry event attended by manufacturers, importers, distributors, and established firearms dealers from around the globe.
SHOT Show is organised by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) in the United States and is held annually in Las Vegas. In 2026, SHOT Show takes place from 20–23 January.
How Shooting Stuff Does Specials — And Why We Keep Black Friday Simple
Every year when Black Friday rolls around, the same pattern repeats: stores shouting louder than ever, inboxes overflowing, and “specials” that look strangely familiar… or strangely inflated.
Customers feel the fatigue. We feel it too.
So at Shooting Stuff, we decided that we wouldn’t play those games anymore. Instead, we developed a simple, honest approach to specials — an approach shaped by 30 years of helping South African shooters get the right gear at the right price.
Here’s how we do it.
We don’t run endless specials. Unlike shops that discount every other week, we prefer fewer, meaningful offers. In a typical year, we run about three proper specials: Black Friday, Hunting Season, and
30 Years of Service, Shooting & Expertise — and Still Going Strong
What a two weeks it’s been!
We kicked off Shooting Stuff’s 30th birthday with a bang — literally — celebrating three decades of service, shooting, and expertise. From reloading specials to Glock Week to Canik Week, it’s been a reminder of what makes Shooting Stuff tick: great gear, great people, and a genuine love for shooting.
Over the last thirty years, we’ve seen the South African shooting community grow and evolve, and we’re proud to have grown right alongside it. From humble beginnings as a small reloading specialist to a trusted name in sport shooting equipment, we’ve stayed true to our roots — helping shooters load smarter, shoot more, and enjoy their sport.
The first week of our celebration brought Glock Week, with shooters testing
30 Years of Shooting Stuff - Built on Reloading, Rooted in Sport Shooting
Shooting Stuff is 30 years old!
It’s been a long journey — from a small sideline business in 1995 to where we are today. There’s so much to be proud of, but reaching 30 also comes with a deep sense of gratitude. We made it this far!
It started with shooting, and it’s still about shooting. But it has always been about people too — customers who became friends, and friends who became customers. Shooting Stuff has always been a family business, and our definition of “family” is wide. At the heart of it all is a simple passion for shooting that’s never faded.
The IPSC Handgun World Shoot is the biggest event in Practical Shooting. Held once every three years, it brings together the best shooters from across the globe. In 2025, South Africa had the honour of hosting the 20th edition of this flagship match, and Shooting Stuff was proud to be part of it.
For Shooting Stuff, the World Shoot was about continuing to bring the world’s best shooting gear to South Africa, giving our local shooting community access to the same products trusted internationally.
That’s why Shooting Stuff represented Double Alpha Academy (DAA) at WSXX, and why we have been selling Double Alpha products for more than 20 years.
Double Alpha is brought to you in South Africa by Shooting Stuff.
We don’t just say it — we proved it. The gear was here, the shooters were here, and Shooting Stuff was right in the middle of it. Shooting Stuff ran the DAA stand in the vendor area, a hub that was always the busiest
The IPSC Handgun World Shoot is known for its competition — the stages, the scores, and the champions. But anyone who has ever attended knows that it’s about more than that. At WSXX, Shooting Stuff saw first-hand how much this sport depends on people to make it happen.
From the vendor area to the shooting line, WSXX was full of stories. Competitors travelled across continents to be here. Families came to support their shooters. Coaches and mentors stood behind their athletes. Range officers and volunteers put in long hours to make sure every stage ran safely and smoothly.
At the DAA stand, we met shooters who came looking for that last piece of gear to make their rig complete. We talked to veterans of the sport who had competed in multiple World Shoots, and to first-time participants experiencing the atmosphere for the very first time. Every conversation reminded us that IPSC isn’t just about accuracy and speed — it’s about dedication and community.
At Shooting Stuff, we pride ourselves on bringing shooters in South Africa the very best equipment to enhance training, improve performance, and give that winning edge in competition. As part of our promotions at the upcoming IPSC Handgun World Shoot XX (WSXX) in Stilfontein this September, we are excited to showcase one of the most advanced tools on the market – the Garmin Xero C1 Pro Chronograph.
