Dillon RL 550
The RL 550 is one of Dillon Precision’s most versatile progressive reloading presses. It is designed for reloaders who want higher output than a single-stage press, while still keeping the option of a high level of control over each step of the reloading process.
The RL 550 uses a manually indexed shellplate - this means the operator advances the shellplate by hand between stations. The manual indexing allows you to load bigger calibers (.338) and also gives you greater control over each individual step in the loading process.
For many reloaders, especially those loading hunting or precision rifle ammunition, this is a useful feature because it gives more control over sizing, priming, powder charging and bullet seating.
For hunters, the RL 550 is a practical choice because it can be set up for many popular rifle calibres while still allowing the reloader to work carefully and consistently. It can accommodate the widest variety of cartridges from .32 ACP up to .338 Lapua, .416 Rigby, and .460 Weatherby.
